Event My Birthday Celebration

Venue Tilak Rashtriya Vidyalaya Khamgaon, Maharashtra India
About the event This residential school was established in 1921. It is located in suburbs of Khamgaon town in Maharashtra State of India. Poor students from nearby villages get free education, accommodation including meals in this school. We celebrate my birthday every year by donating 1 day meal for the residential students. It gives immense pleasure to see happy faces craving for education in spite of hardship to get basic things in their life.

Social Organization Friends of Singa

About the organisation Introduced in 1990, the Friend of Singa (FOS) programme began with the purpose of cultivating desirable behaviors and values in students. School nominated Agents of Kindness extend little acts of kindness beyond themselves, to their schools, families and communities.

Events and Contributions Key events organized and actively participated in are:

  1. Promoted environmental protection and awareness for students with the “No Plastic in Canteen” campaign that helped to reduce plastic waste
  2. Conducted the “Cloth Bag Making from old T-shirts” workshop for primary students so that they can contribute to sustainability and reusability
  3. Organized the “Trashion-Fashion Show” where participants are encouraged to reuse household items like cardboard cartons, newspapers etc. for preparing costumes, then walk the ramp and spread green environment messages.
  4. Coordinated the “Plant a Tree” campaign for junior classes whereby students planted trees and also nurtured those within school campus.
