What if they…?

Introduction :

Trust is a fragile thing. It can easily be broken and tampered with. It can easily be overlooked and shattered.

Consequently, trust issues arise.

You begin to wonder, why should you go out when it’s easier to stay by yourself.

You begin to wonder what is the point of sharing your troubles when it’s easier to simply resolve them yourself.

You begin to wonder about the purpose of trusting people if they are going to leave anyway.

These lyrics are about those doubts and fears you have about confiding in someone.

“What if they…?”

(Verse-1)
Careful word choices,
I need to overthink every word before speaking to them.
Extraneous conversation,
But why talk when I can enjoy the silence?

(Pre-chorus)
I always saw the glass of water as half empty.
Befriending people always scared me.

(Chorus)
What if they
Turn out as traitors?
What if they
Are nothing but liars?
What if they
Judge and not understand?
What if they
Are a book that is blank?

(Verse-2)
Uncomfortable socialising,
But gimme a good reason to be with a stranger smiling.
Dark lights, by myself,
In my own company, nobody can hurt me.

(Pre-chorus)
I always feel like the sun will hide and it’ll start raining.
The thing I’m most scared of is befriending.

(Chorus)
What if they
Turn out as traitors?
What if they
Are nothing but liars?
What if they
Judge and not understand?
What if they
Are a book that is blank?

(Bridge)
Someone’s trust is a fragile thing.
A little harshness can lead to breaking.
Why to put my heart out there
When I can keep it protected here?
When I can solve the problem,
Why should I go for help to them?

(Chorus)
What if they
Turn out as traitors?
What if they
Are nothing but liars?
What if they
Judge and not understand?
What is they
Are a book that is blank?
