Burnt me down

Introduction :

‘Fire’ is one of my favorite imagery to use whenever I’m writing something angsty.

This poem is about someone who hurt me, and left me feeling broken and aimless. It employes a metaphor of ‘Fire’ to signify the person ruining my life.

There is a sequel poem to this as well- “Outta the ashes”.

“Burnt me down”

You’re enjoying watching my steps falter,
Drowning me in my own affliction not water,
And you’re waiting for my debacle to happen
And for my spirits to dampen.

Set my purpose up in flames
Only these are outta control, without reins.
These are not only roaring,
They are more destructive and consuming.
They might as well have been fiendfyre
And you’re just watching and playing a lyre.

My hard work, joys, and dreams are all ablaze
Leaving me in a fury but also a daze.
The fiery fire raging and blazing
On the floor, walls and ceiling.
This is as ‘good’ as an inferno.
You might as well have called a juro.

Finally satisfied with the conquering
The fire is now innocently smouldering.
Satisfied with the destruction it caused
It is now in it’s raging path stopped,
Leaving me in this apocalyptic atmosphere,
Purposeless and alone with your sneer.

All except you and I don’t know it.
They don’t know that you willfully did it.
Everything’s reduced to ashes, no remains,
Except for me, my regret and pains.
